A workshop on social business at Daffodil International University on 28th March 2012
The program was divided into three sessions. The first session introduced distinguished guests from home and abroad. Participants of the workshop included faculty members and students, of which all of the departmental heads of the university were present. In the second session, a presentation was given by the Yunus Center team, headed by M. F. M Amir Khashru, Social Business Coordinator, YC. Other presenters were Md. Nazmul Hossain Academia Advisor, YC, Lecturer Department of Marketing , DU, Labib Tarafdar , Assistant Program Officer, YC. The last session was a brain-storming session in which Labib Tarafdar, Assistant Program Officer, Yc, Fiamma Degl'Innocenti, Intern, YC, Teddy Sun, Intern, YC, Mohammad Atif bin Shafi, Intern, YC, and Mr. Musa Ibrahim, Mountaineer and Journalist explained different social problems of Bangladesh which can be addressed by Social Business ideas from home. During this session a significant number of questions were raised by the students regarding Social Business and its different aspects. Later on, the working files were distributed among the students. The session was ended by light refreshment at 7.00pm.
DIU was proud to honor Professor Muhammad Yunus, for being selected as one of the 12 Greatest Entrepreneurs of Our Time by Fortune Magazine, with the presentation of a crest. The crest was received by Mr. M. F. M. Amir Khashru on behalf of YC.
The workshop presided over by Professor Dr. M. Lutfar Rahman, Vice Chancellor, DIU. At the beginning of the session M. F. M Amir Khashru, Social Business coordinator, YC, gave thanks to the DIU authority on behalf of the Yunus Center. Professor Dr. Abdul Hannan Chowdhury, Dean, School of Business, NSU gave a significant speech on the importance of Social Business. Emeritus Professor Dr. Aminul Islam, DIU, in his speech said, Social Businesses can solve many social problems on a global scale. Afterwards, Mr. Musa Ibrahim, Mountaineer and Journalist, encouraged the students to come forward and help solve social issues using the concept of social business. The mountaineering team headed by Mr. Ibrahim was also present at the session.
