Social Business Plan Competition 2010
On February 28, seven members of the Yunus Centre team, headed by the Centre's Executive Director, Lamiya Morshed, helped launched the very first Social Business Plan Competition at North South University. The event was organized by North South University's Young Entrepreneurs' Society, the only undergraduate business club at the university, and supported by the Yunus Centre in terms of knowledge sharing.
The Yunus Centre gave the attending students a presentation on the concept of social business and existing examples of successful social businesses, followed by a workshop on how to create a compelling social business plan. The event was attended by over 180 students, representing over 30 universities in Dhaka, who grouped themselves into teams of 3 and have been given the task of designing a social business plan that will impact society and alleviate poverty.
This is the first event of its kind between a Grameen entity and local students. The Yunus Centre will be judging the business plans in early April and will be available until the March 18th deadline to answer questions pertaining to the business plans.Â
