Professor Cam Donaldson to visit Dhaka 3-7 October
Professor Cam Donaldson, Yunus Professor and Director of the Yunus Centre for Social Business andGCU established the Yunus Centre and Chair in Professor Yunus's name following his visit to deliver the first Magnusson Lecture. Subsequently Professor Donaldson was named as the first holder of the Yunus Chair in Social Business and Health in early 2010.
Professor Donaldson previously held the Health Foundation Chair in Health Economics at Newcastle University, where he was founding Director of the Institute of Health & Society and Professor in the Newcastle University Business School. He held the Svare Chair in Health Economics at the University of Calgary from 1998-2002, having first become a Professor of Health Economics in 1996 whilst at the Health Economics Research Unit at the University of Aberdeen. As Yunus Chair, he will lead a unique research programme evaluating the impact of social business creation on the lives and health of disadvantaged communities in Glasgow and overseas.
The Yunus Centre at GCU works closely with the Institutes for Applied Health Research and Society & Social Justice Research as well as the wider University and international collaborators. Currently the Centre includes Dr Rachel Baker, Reader in Health Economics, Morag Gillespie, Research Fellow, and Dr Stephen Sinclair, Lecturer in Sociology and Social Policy as well as a growing number of Interns and PhD students.
