Memorandum of Understanding Signed By Prof. Yunus and the Governor of Caldas, Colombia, To Bring Microfinance and Social Business to the Region
Professor Yunus signing the MoU with Governor Muñoz.Caldas is an economically underdeveloped department in the Paisa region of Colombia. While it was once one of the country’s biggest coffee producers, it has since been experiencing a depression due to the collapse of the coffee market in the area, causing a sharp increase in unemployment.
On November 7th in Wolfsburg, a Memorandum of Understanding between Professor Yunus and Mario Aristizábal Muñoz, the Governor of Caldas, was signed in order to implement microfinance and social business projects in the department.
