*Grameen Healthcare Signs MOU With **Emory University**, **USA**
**Grameen Healthcare and **Emory** **University** today signed an MOU for establishing a Learning Centre in **Bangladesh** that will train health care professionals. The Learning Center that will organize diploma/degree education programs in Dhaka for physicians, nurses and health care administrators in Bangladesh, and will serve as a center for strategic planning and research in the health care sector based upon the current needs in Bangladesh. Emory University faculty and Grameen will work together to jointly work on development, translation and adaptation of relevant teaching material.
Dr. Gary Hauk, Vice President, **Emory** **University** who is leading a 10 member delegation from **Emory** **University** signed the MOU on behalf of Emory. Professor Muhammad Yunus, Chairman, Grameen Healthcare Trust signed on behalf of Grameen Healthcare.
Grameen Healthcare has organized a series of high-level meetings in **Dhaka** this week in preparation for launch of major Grameen Healthcare initiative in **Bangladesh**. Important delegations from several North American universities, international medical institutes, pharmaceutical companies and hospitals are visiting Grameen in **Dhaka** during the week of October 18-23 for these meetings.
In addition to **Emory** **University**, representatives from McGill and Duke Universities, Pfizer, General Electric Healthcare Systems, Mayo Clinic, Sabin Vaccine Institute and Johnson & Johnson are among those attending these meetings. Grameen is working with these partners to build up the existing Grameen Kalyan rural clinics network into an affordable primary health care services system within the reach of even the poorest person. The primary focus of the healthcare programs will be children, adolescent girls and mothers. *

*At the apex level, Grameen Healthcare will set up a world class **University** of **Health Sciences** and Technology and a series of nursing colleges. Information technology will play key catalytic role in Grameen's
integrated healthcare system. Grameen has partnered with General Electric Healthcare Systems and Intel Corporation in the design of such a system. *
