Grameen Hosts Inclusive Finance Initiative of Asian Financial Cooperation Association (AFCA)

Nobel Laureate Professor Muhammad Yunus was keynote speaker at the day-long conference on Inclusive Finance co-organized by the Asian Financial Cooperation Association (AFCA) of China, Grameen China and hosted by Grameen Trust. During the opening ceremony of the conference, the Inclusive Finance Cooperation Committee was formed and Professor Muhammad Yunus was announced as its Chairman.
A day-long conference on Inclusive Finance leading to forming of Inclusive Finance Cooperation Committee (IFCC) co-organized by the Asian Financial Cooperation Association (AFCA) of China and Grameen China, hosted by Grameen Trust was held today at Grameen Bank complex.
The Asian Financial Cooperation Association (AFCA), established by the government of China in March 2017, is a platform to establish business connections and communication among financial institutions across regions as well as support the growing Asian economy and developing financial market. The AFCA promotes and supports social business within AFCA and IFCC member organizations. The AFCA has set up an office for Inclusive Finance Cooperation Committee (IFCC) and appointed a Deputy Secretary-General devoted to the development of inclusive finance. Professor Yunus has been invited to become the first Chairman (Director) of the Inclusive Finance Cooperation Committee (IFCC) as IFCC would like to benefit from Professor Yunus’ valuable experience from Grameen Bank, a classic model of inclusive finance, having provided microcredit and empowered millions of women and families.
Mr. Yang Zaiping, the Secretary-General (CEO) of AFCA made the welcome speech, welcoming 170 member participants including high level delegations from leading financial institutions of China who came to Dhaka to attend the conference including top executives from AFCA itself, Agriculture Bank of China Limited, Bank of Beijing, China Academy of Regional Finance, China Minsheng Bank, China Institute for Innovation and Development Strategy, China Association for Quality Promotion, China Development Bank, China Economic Information Service, Ecological Bee Industry Professional Committee, Foundation for Yunus Social Business Taiwan, Gousen Securities Co. Ltd., Zhengzhou University, a university housing a Yunus Social Business Centre (YSBC).
In addition to the 60 member delegation from China, the conference was joined by Mr Syed Mokhtar Albukhary, one of the top business leaders of Malaysia and the founder of Al Bukhary Foundation, Malaysia, along with his daughter and son who are involved in social businesses, Vice Chancellor of Malaysian university, a 41-member Chinese team from SIAS International University in China, 8 member team from National Central University Taiwan visiting Yunus Centre, representatives from Bangladesh China Chamber of Commerce and Industry as well as guests from Britain, the Netherlands, and distinguished participants from Bangladesh.
Nobel Laureate Professor Muhammad Yunus inaugurated the conference congratulating the idea of creating a powerful wing of inclusive finance in Asian Financial Cooperation of China (AFCA). This was originally proposed by Professor Yunus during his visit to AFCA headquarters in China in 2017. This wing, he explained, should be striving to build an international platform for leaders in Asia’s finance industry and social business entrepreneurs to share their inclusive finance experience and strengthen all the inclusive finance programs in the region. The endeavor seeks to create opportunities for organizations to better serve the underprivileged by including them into the current financial system.
Nobel Laureate Professor Muhammad Yunus exchanged warm greetings and his ideology behind his book, "A World of Three Zeros" with Mr. Yang Zaiping, the Secretary-General (CEO) of the Asian Financial Cooperation Association (AFCA) at Yunus Centre.

এশিয়ান ফাইনান্সিয়াল কো-অপারেশন এসোসিয়েশান (এএফসিএ) -এর “ইনক্লুসিভ ফাইনান্স ইনিশিয়েটিভ” আয়োজন করলো গ্রামীণ
২০ জানুয়ারী ২০১৯ গ্রামীণ ট্রাস্টের আয়োজনে অন্তর্ভূক্তিমূলক অর্থায়নের উপর একটি দিনব্যাপী সম্মেলন অনুষ্ঠিত হলো ঢাকায় গ্রামীণ ব্যাংক কমপ্লেক্সে। একটি “ইনক্লুসিভ ফাইনান্স কো-অপারেশন কমিটি” (আইএফসিসি) গঠনের লক্ষ্যে এশিয়ান ফাইনান্সিয়াল কো-অপারেশন এসোসিয়েশান, চায়না এবং গ্রামীণ চায়নার সহ-আয়োজনে অনুষ্ঠিত হলো এই সম্মেলন।
২০১৭ সালের মার্চ মাসে চীন সরকার কর্তৃক প্রতিষ্ঠিত এশিয়ান ফাইনান্সিয়াল কো-অপোরেশন এসোসিয়েশানের লক্ষ্য এশিয়ার বিভিন্ন অঞ্চলের মধ্যে যোগাযোগ ও ব্যবসায়িক সংযোগ প্রতিষ্ঠার মাধ্যমে এশিয়ার ক্রমবর্ধমান অর্থনীতিকে সহায়তাদান ও আর্থিক বাজারের বিকাশ সাধন। এএফসিএ ও আইএফসিসি-র সদস্য সংগঠনগুলোর মধ্যে সামাজিক ব্যবসাকে জনপ্রিয় করা ও সামাজিক ব্যবসায়ে সহায়তা করা এএফসিএ-র উদ্দেশ্য। এএফসিএ এই লক্ষ্যে আইএফসিসি-এর জন্য একটি কার্যালয় প্রতিষ্ঠা করেছে এবং শুধুমাত্র অন্তর্ভূক্তিমূলক অর্থায়নের উন্নয়নে কাজ করার জন্য একজন ডেপুটি সেক্রেটারী জেনারেল নিয়োগ দিয়েছে। নোবেল লরিয়েট প্রফেসর মুহাম্মদ ইউনূসকে আইএফসিসি-র চেয়ারম্যান হিসেবে কাজ করতে আমন্ত্রণ জানানো হয়েছে কেননা আইএফসিসি বাংলাদেশে লক্ষ লক্ষ নারী ও পরিবারকে ক্ষুদ্রঋণ সরবরাহের মাধ্যমে তাদের আর্থ-সামাজিক ক্ষমতায়নে গুরুত্বপূর্ণ ভূমিকা পালনকারী অন্তর্ভূক্তিমূলক অর্থায়নের ক্লাসিক মডেল গ্রামীণ ব্যাংকের এই প্রতিষ্ঠাতার মূল্যবান অভিজ্ঞতা থেকে সমৃদ্ধ হতে যায় অধ্যাপক ইউনূস এই আমন্ত্রণ গ্রহন করেছেন।
এশিয়ান ফাইনান্সিয়াল কো-অপোরেশন এসোসিয়েশানের সেক্রেটারী জেনারেল (প্রধান নির্বাহী) মি. ইয়াং জাইপিং সম্মেলনে আগত সদস্য-অংশগ্রহণকারীদের উদ্দেশ্যে স্বাগত বক্তব্য রাখেন। চীনের শীর্ষ অর্থায়ন প্রতিষ্ঠানগুলোর উচ্চ পর্যায়ের প্রতিনিধিবৃন্দ সহ সম্মেলনে উপস্থিত প্রায় ১৭০ জন অংশগ্রহণকারীর মধ্যে এএফসিএ-র উচ্চপদস্থ কর্মকর্তারা ছাড়া আরো ছিলেন এগ্রিকালচার ব্যাংক অব চায়না লিঃ, ব্যাংক অব বেইজিং, চায়না একাডেমী অব রিজিওনাল ফাইনান্স, চায়না মিনশেং ব্যাংক, চায়না ইনস্টিটিউট ফর ইনোভেশন এন্ড ডেভেলপমেন্ট স্ট্র্যাটেজি, চায়না এসোসিয়েশন ফর কোয়ালিটি প্রমোশন, চায়না ডেভেলপমেন্ট ব্যাংক, চায়না ইকোনমিক ইনফরমেশন সার্ভিস, ইকোলজিকাল বী ইন্ডাষ্ট্রি প্রফেশনাল কমিটি, ফাউন্ডেশান ফর ইউনূস সোশ্যাল বিজনেস তাইওয়ান, গাউসেন সিকিউরিটিজ কোম্পানী লিঃ এবং নিজস্ব ক্যাম্পাসে ইউনূস সোশ্যাল বিজনেস সেন্টার প্রতিষ্ঠাকারী ঝিনঝো ইউনিভার্সিটির প্রতিনিধিগণ।
চীন থেকে আগত ৬০ জনের প্রতিনিধিদল ছাড়াও সম্মেলনে যোগ দেন মালয়েশিয়ার অন্যতম শীর্ষস্থানীয় ব্যবসায়ী নেতা ও আলবুখারী ফাউন্ডেশনের প্রতিষ্ঠাতা মি. সাইয়েদ মোখতার আলবুখারী। উল্লেখ্য যে, পুত্র ও কন্যা সহ সম্মেলনে আগত মি. বুখারী ও তাঁর পরিবার সামাজিক ব্যবসার সাথে যুক্ত। সম্মেলনে আরো যোগ দেন একটি মালয়েশিয়ান বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ের উপাচার্য, চীনের এসআইএএস বিশ্ববিদ্যালয় থেকে আগত ৪১ সদস্যর একটি প্রতিনিধিদল, ইউনূস সেন্টারে আগত ন্যাশনাল সেন্ট্রাল ইউনিভার্সিটি তাইওয়ান-এর ৮ সদস্যর একটি দল এবং বাংলাদেশ-চায়না চেম্বার অব কমার্স এন্ড ইন্ডাষ্ট্রি-এর প্রতিনিধিবৃন্দ। সম্মেলনে আরো অংশ নেন বৃটেন, নেদারল্যান্ডস ও বাংলাদেশের বিশিষ্ট অভ্যাগতবৃন্দ।
সম্মেলন উদ্বোধন করেন নোবেল লরিয়েট প্রফেসর মুহাম্মদ ইউনূস। তিনি এএফসিএ-তে অন্তর্ভূক্তিমূলক অর্থায়নের জন্য একটি শক্তিশালী শাখা সৃষ্টির ধারণাকে অভিনন্দন জানান। ২০১৭ সালে চীনে এএফসিএ-র সদর দপ্তর পরিদর্শনকালে প্রফেসর ইউনূসই মূলত প্রস্তাবটি করেছিলেন। তিনি বলেন, এই শাখাটির কাজ হবে এশিয়ার অর্থায়ন খাতের নেতৃবৃন্দ ও সামাজিক ব্যবসা উদ্যোক্তাদের জন্য একটি আন্তর্জাতিক প্ল্যাটফর্ম গড়ে তোলা যেখানে তাঁরা অন্তর্ভূক্তিমূলক অর্থায়নে তাঁদের অভিজ্ঞতা বিনিময় করবেন এবং এই এলাকায় পরিচালিত অন্তর্ভূক্তিমূলক অর্থায়ন কর্মসূচিগুলোকে শক্তিশালী করবেন। এর উদ্দেশ্য হবে সুবিধাবঞ্চিত জনগোষ্ঠীকে বর্তমান আর্থিক কাঠামোর মধ্যে নিয়ে এসে তাদেরকে আরো উন্নত সেবা প্রদান করার লক্ষ্যে কাজ করে যাওয়া প্রতিষ্ঠানগুলোর জন্য বিভিন্ন সুযোগ সৃষ্টি করা।
