Six New Business Launched at 583rd Social Business Design Lab

The 583rd Social Business Design Lab organized by Yunus Centre took place on 17th May 2017 at the Grameen Bank Auditorium with nearly 150 national and international participants from India, Japan, USA, Brazil and Singapore. The Design Lab was chaired by Nobel Laureate Professor Muhammad Yunus.
Six new Nobin Udyokta (or New Entrepreneur) business plans were presented at today's Lab. The business plans included two tailoring shops, two poultry farms, one leather item producing shop and a fancy shop.
Mahi Ladies and Gents Tailors project was presented by Kalim Ullah. With seven years of experience, Mr. Kalim his dreams to expand the business and give employment opportunity to other youngsters his area. A.H Agro farm project was presented by Mr. Atiqur Rahman who has been doing a very new business in the poultry sector, where he is farming on turkey birds and creating a new source of fresh meat and egg for people. The significant feature of his business is he attracts customers online using social media platforms. Mr. Dipjol Das presented his leather workshop at the design lab. He prepares tube- well washer from buffalo leather and sales in wholesale market. Mon Mohoni store was presented by Mr Sumon Chakrabarty, a skilled craftsman bamboo and paper made fancy products which are used specially in marriage ceremonies, birthdays and puja festivals. He representing hindu communities and their culture through his craftsmanships. Fahim Tailoring was presented by a very enthusiastic woman Farjana Begum, a skilled tailor creating baby clothes which has significant demand all around the year specially during festival times. Lastly, Harun Poultry Farm was presented by Mr Harounur Rashid, he is meeting the growing demand of fowl or chicken meat for people. All six entrepreneurs are children coming from Grameen Bank families.
All business plans were presented and discussed in detail. Those were then presented in groups for further review. All projects were approved for funding by their groups. The projects are joint ventures with social business funds and their progress will be monitored on www.socialbusinesspedia.com.
Since the Labs began in January 2013, there are now more than sixteen thousand projects which have been approved in the last 582 Lab programs for equity funding ranging from taka one lakh to five lakh. A total of taka 170 crore has been invested in these projects.
A social business was launched at today’s design lab. SHISHIR, a clean & safe drinking water solution in a jar for consumption, produced in a sustainable way using river water. SHISHIR is established to improve the lives of the people living in areas where water is contaminated by arsenic by delivering clean drinking water at their doorsteps. This is a venture by YY Goshti which is a social business incubator helping young people shaping their ideas into viable social businesses.
Before closing, Professor Muhammad Yunus invited everyone to the 7th Social Business Day, an annual global conference organized by Yunus Centre, to bring together all social business experts around the world, to be held on July 28-29, 2017 in Dhaka on the theme “Can Wealth Concentration Be Stopped?" Products of new entrepreneurs will be displayed to national and international audience.
The next Social Business Design Lab will take place on 19th August, 2017.

১৬ হাজার নতুন তরুণ উদ্যোক্তাকে অর্থায়ন
৫৮৩তম সামাজিক ব্যবসা ডিজাইন ল্যাবে চালু হলো ৬টি নতুন ব্যবসা
ইউনূস সেন্টার আয়োজিত ৫৮৩তম সামাজিক ব্যবসা ডিজাইন ল্যাব অদ্য ১৭ মে ২০১৭ গ্রামীণ ব্যাংক অডিটোরিয়াম কক্ষে অনুষ্ঠিত হয়। ভারত, জাপান, মার্কিন যুক্তরাষ্ট্র ও সিঙ্গাপুর সহ বিভিন্ন দেশীয় ও আন্তর্জাতিক প্রতিষ্ঠান থেকে প্রায় ১৫০ জন অংশগ্রহণকারী এই ল্যাবে যোগ দেন। ডিজাইন ল্যাবে সভাপতিত্ব করেন নোবেল লরিয়েট প্রফেসর মুহাম্মদ ইউনূস।
আজকের ডিজাইন ল্যাবে ৬টি নতুন “নবীন উদ্যোক্তা” ব্যবসা পরিকল্পনা উপস্থাপিত হয়। ব্যবসাগুলোর মধ্যে ছিল দু’টি দর্জি দোকান, দু’টি পোলট্রি খামার, একটি চামড়াজাত পণ্য উৎপাদনকারী ব্যবসা এবং একটি মনোহারী দোকান।
জনাব কলিম উল্লাহ উপস্থাপন করেন তাঁর “মাহি লেডিস ও জেন্ট্স টেইলার্স” প্রকল্পটি। এ পেশায় সাত বছরের অভিজ্ঞতা সম্পন্ন কলিম উল্লাহ তাঁর ব্যাবসাকে সম্প্রসারিত করার এবং এলাকার তরুণ-তরুণীদেরকে কাজের সুযোগ করে দেবার স্বপ্ন দেখছেন। জনাব আতিকুর রহমান উপস্থাপন করেন তাঁর “এ. এইচ. অ্যাগ্রো ফার্ম” প্রকল্প। তিনি পোলট্রি খাতে একটি নতুন ব্যবসা শুরু করেছেন। তিনি তুর্কী মোরগ চাষ করছেন এবং তাজা মাংস ও ডিমের একটি নতুন উৎস ক্রেতাদের কাছে নিয়ে গেছেন। তাঁর ব্যবসার একটি অন্যতম বৈশিষ্ট্য এই যে, তিনি সামাজিক মিডিয়া প্লাটফর্ম ব্যবহার করে অনলাইনে ক্রেতা আকৃষ্ট করছেন। ডিজাইন ল্যাবে তাঁর চামড়ার ওয়ার্কশপ উপস্থাপনা করেন জনাব ডিপজল দাস। তিনি মহিষের চামড়া থেকে নলকুপের ওয়াশার তৈরী করেন ও তা পাইকারী বাজারে বিক্রি করেন। দক্ষ কারিগর জনাব সুমন চক্রবর্তী উপস্থাপন করেন তাঁর “মন মোহনী স্টোর।” তিনি বিশেষ করে বিয়ে, জন্মদিন, পূজা ইত্যাদি অনুষ্ঠানের জন্য বাঁশ ও কাগজ দিয়ে আকর্ষণীয় সব জিনিষ তৈরী করেন। তিনি তাঁর কারুনৈপুণ্য দিয়ে হিন্দু কমিউনিটি ও তাদের সংস্কৃতিকে তুলে ধরছেন। জনাব ফারজানা বেগম উপস্থাপন করেন তাঁর “ফাহিম টেইলারিং” প্রকল্পটি। নিজ পেশায় অত্যন্ত উদ্যমী ও দক্ষ ফারজানা শিশুদের পোষাক তৈরী করেন সারা বছর ধরে বিশেষ করে উৎসবগুলোতে যার বিপুল চাহিদা থাকে। ডিজাইন ল্যাবে উপস্থাপিত সর্বশেষ প্রকল্পটি ছিল জনাব হারুনুর রশীদের “হারুন পোলট্রি ফার্ম।” তিনি এলাকার হাস-মুরগীর মাংসের ক্রমবর্ধমান চাহিদা পূরণ করছেন। নবীন উদ্যোক্তাদের সকলেই গ্রামীণ ব্যাংকের ঋণগ্রহীতা পরিবারের সন্তান।
নবীন উদ্যোক্তাদের ব্যবসায়িক পরিকল্পনাগুলো বিশদভাবে উপস্থাপন করা হয় এবং এগুলো নিয়ে বিস্তারিত আলোচনা হয়। এরপর প্রকল্পগুলো অধিকতর পর্যালোচনার জন্য দলীয় পর্যায়ে উপস্থাপনা করা হয়। উপস্থাপিত প্রতিটি প্রকল্পই স্ব-স্ব দল কর্তৃক অর্থায়নের জন্য অনুমোদিত হয়। গ্রামীণের সামাজিক ব্যবসা তহবিলের সাথে যৌথ-মূলধনী ব্যবসা হিসেবে পরিচালিত এই সামাজিক ব্যবসা প্রকল্পগুলো www.sociabusinesspedia.com –এ মনিটর করা হবে।
জানুয়ারী ২০১৩-এ সামাজিক ব্যবসা ডিজাইন ল্যাব শুরু হবার ৫৮২তম ল্যাব পর্যন্ত ১৬ হাজারেরও বেশী প্রকল্প মূলধনী বিনিয়োগের জন্য অনুমোদন করা হয়েছে। সামাজিক ব্যবসা তহবিল থেকে এসকল নবীন উদ্যোক্তা প্রকল্পে অনুমোদিত ইক্যুইটি ফান্ডের পরিমাণ প্রকল্প প্রতি ১.০ থেকে ৫.০ লক্ষ টাকা। এসব প্রকল্পে মোট ১৭০ কোটি টাকা বিনিয়োগ করা হয়েছে।
আজেকের ডিজাইন ল্যাবে একটি সামাজিক ব্যবসাও চালু করা হয়। “শিশির” নামের এই পরিস্কার ও নিরাপদ পানির সমাধানটির মাধ্যমে সহজে ও টেকসই উপায়ে নদীর পানি পানযোগ্য করে তা জারের মাধ্যমে ভোক্তাদের কাছে সরবরাহ করা হবে। প্রকল্পটির উদ্দেশ্য যেসব এলাকার পানি আর্সেনিক-দূষিত সেখানে মানুষের দোরগোড়ায় নিরাপদ পানি পৌঁছে দেবার মাধ্যমে মানুষের স্বাস্থ্য সুরক্ষা ও জীবনমান উন্নয়ন। “শিশির”-এর উদ্যোক্তা সামাজিক ব্যবসা ইনকিউবেটর “ওয়াই ওয়াই গোষ্ঠী” যা টেকসই সামাজিক ব্যবসার ধারণা গড়ে তুলতে তরুণদের সাহায্য করে থাকে।
ডিজাইন ল্যাব সমাপ্তির পূর্বে প্রফেসর মুহাম্মদ ইউনূস জুলাই ২৮-২৯, ২০১৭ অনুষ্ঠেয় ৭ম সামাজিক ব্যবসা দিবসে অংশগ্রহণের জন্য সকলকে আমন্ত্রণ জানান। উল্লেখ্য যে, ইউনূস সেন্টারের আায়োজনে অনুষ্ঠিত ও প্রতি বছর আয়োজিত সামাজিক ব্যবসা দিবস বিশ্বের সকল অঞ্চল থেকে সামাজিক ব্যবসার উপর বিশেষজ্ঞদের জড়ো করে থাকে। এ বছরের সামাজিক ব্যবসা দিবসের বিষয়বস্তু হচ্ছে: “সম্পদ কেন্দ্রীকরণ বন্ধ করা কি সম্ভব?” সামাজিক ব্যবসা দিবসে নবীন উদ্যোক্তাদের বিভিন্ন পণ্য জাতীয় ও আন্তর্জাতিক দর্শকদের নিকট প্রদর্শিত হবে।
পরবর্তী সামাজিক ব্যবসা ডিজাইন ল্যাব অনুষ্ঠিত হবে ১৯ আগষ্ট ২০১৭।
